1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Hooktrace ("Service"), a webhook inspection tool owned and operated by an individual ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Hooktrace provides temporary webhook endpoints for inspecting incoming HTTP payloads and replaying requests. The Service is intended for development and debugging purposes only.

3. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by businesses and developers. You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

4. Access Tokens

Hooktrace does not use user accounts. Access to an endpoint and its captured requests is controlled by unguessable access tokens (an ingest token and a view token). Anyone who has the view token can view captured requests, and anyone who has the ingest token can send requests to the endpoint. You are responsible for keeping these tokens confidential and for creating a new endpoint if a token is compromised.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Transmit sensitive personal data (e.g., passwords, financial information, or special category data) through webhook endpoints.
• Send data to the Service for which you do not have all necessary rights and lawful basis to collect, use, and disclose, including any personal data.
• Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service.
• Use automated tools to generate excessive load on the Service.
• Send request bodies exceeding 1 MB to webhook endpoints.

6. Data Retention

Webhook endpoints and associated request data are temporary and are automatically deleted after the selected expiration period (currently 1 hour, 24 hours, 48 hours (default), or 7 days). We do not guarantee long-term storage of any data sent through the Service.

7. Service Limits

We may apply rate limits and other abuse-prevention measures. Requests may be silently discarded or limited if they exceed allowed volume. Request bodies are limited to 1 MB. Each endpoint retains a maximum of 500 captured requests; older requests are automatically removed.

8. Replay Feature

If you use the replay feature, Hooktrace will send the captured request to a target URL you provide. During replay, the Authorization and Cookie headers are stripped. All other headers and the request body are forwarded as captured unless removed by you before replaying. You are responsible for ensuring you have permission to send the replayed data to the target and that the transfer is lawful.

9. Intellectual Property

We own and retain all rights in the Service, software, and documentation. You retain ownership of data you submit to the Service. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transmit that data solely to provide and secure the Service and to perform replay at your direction. If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant us the right to use them without restriction or compensation.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. While we take reasonable measures to operate the Service securely, we do not guarantee that data transmitted through the Service will be secure or free from unauthorised access. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hooktrace and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantees or rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, death, personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold harmless Hooktrace and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) data you send to the Service, (b) your use of the replay feature and target URLs you provide, or (c) your violation of law or these Terms.

13. Availability, Changes & Termination

The Service is provided during public preview. We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice by posting an updated date on this page. We may suspend or discontinue the Service or terminate your access to address security, legal compliance, or abuse. You may stop using the Service at any time. Endpoint data will auto-expire per the selected TTL unless earlier deletion is required.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New South Wales, Australia, except where prohibited by applicable consumer protection laws. Nothing in these Terms affects mandatory consumer rights where applicable.

15. General

• Severability: If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
• Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on this subject.
• Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
• Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control.

16. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect information.
